The School Resource Deputy (SRD) serves as a vital link between law enforcement and Laramie County Community College within Laramie County. Reporting to the School Resource Deputy Corporal, this role is dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure campus environment while building positive, lasting relationships with students, staff, and the broader community.
The SRD acts as a visible and positive presence on campus, fostering trust through proactive engagement. The position involves collaborating with school administrators, teachers, and community stakeholders to identify safety concerns and implement prevention programs. Beyond incident response, the SRD participates in educational programs and presentations designed to promote positive interactions between law enforcement and students, serving as a primary point of contact for guidance on campus safety matters.
This role requires a balance of law enforcement expertise and community policing principles. The SRD must navigate the nuances of school environments, distinguishing between disciplinary infractions handled by school officials and criminal activity requiring law enforcement intervention. Success in this position depends on the ability to exercise diplomacy, sound judgment, and professionalism in difficult situations while remaining alert and calm during emergencies.
