About the Role
The School Based Mental Health Worker is a vital member of a treatment team, working alongside classroom teachers, guidance counselors, school psychologists, and program supervisors. This role provides one-on-one and group interventions to children and adolescents, ensuring they receive the support needed to thrive in school and at home without requiring a more restrictive treatment setting.
In this position, you will collaborate with students, teachers, parents, and administrators to provide caring mental health support. Your work involves reviewing IEPs and behavior plans to develop a deep understanding of each student's needs, while utilizing assessment phases to build strong therapeutic relationships. You will support educational staff in implementing prescribed plans and provide specific therapeutic services, including crisis intervention, emotional support, and time-structuring activities. A key part of the role is demonstrating cultural competence and addressing issues of diversity as they impact treatment.
