About the Role
The School Based Liaison serves as a critical single point of contact for educational systems, guiding them through the complexities of the mental health and child-serving systems. This role exists to ensure that all children and their families are supported in making informed decisions regarding their rights to treatment options within both community and educational settings.
Acting as a bridge between Allegheny County's Office of Behavioral Health and assigned school districts, the Liaison assists educators in navigating available services, understanding varying levels of care, and accessing proper follow-up mechanisms. The position involves mediating conflicts between school districts and providers, consulting on complex student needs, and developing mental health services directly within schools. Additionally, the role includes serving as a Student Assistance Program (SAP) Coordinator, overseeing provider compliance, supporting postvention efforts, and delivering training to districts, agencies, and families on adolescent mental health needs.
