As a Driver for FedEx Freight, you will be the backbone of our logistics network, responsible for picking up and delivering trailers between Service Centers and turn-point locations. This role involves operating tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable, to ensure freight moves efficiently across the country.
Your day-to-day involves more than just driving; you will perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections, hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies, and maintain accurate daily logs. You will serve as the primary point of contact with dispatch, communicating regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment issues. Depending on operational needs, you may also perform duties as a city driver or dock employee, including loading and unloading freight and chaining vehicle tires.
This position requires the ability to work independently or as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and motivation. You will navigate long distances day and night on all types of roads and in varying weather conditions, while adhering to strict hazardous material regulations and company policies.
Candidates must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements. A valid Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier regulations are mandatory. Applicants must also have one year of experience within the most recent three years or have successfully completed the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
Please note that the Hazardous Materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of offer acceptance. Drivers operating Long Combination Vehicles (LCVs) in specific states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT) must meet additional LCV Qualification and Certification Minimum Standards.
