As a Driver for FedEx Freight, you will be responsible for picking up and delivering trailers between Service Centers and turn-point locations using tractor-trailer combinations. This role is essential to maintaining the flow of freight across our network, ensuring that goods move efficiently from origin to destination.
The position involves driving long distances day and night on all types of roads and in all types of weather. You will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, and diesel fumes. Additionally, you may encounter hazardous materials shipped and packaged under DOT regulations. Hours may vary due to operational needs, and overnight stays may be required for certain schedules.
To succeed in this role, you must possess a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements. An automatic transmission CDL restriction is allowed. You must have at least one year of experience within the most recent three years or have successfully completed the FedEx Freight Driver Development Course. All candidates must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier regulations and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Note: Long Combination Vehicles (LCVs) such as Triple Trailers and Rocky Mountain Doubles are operated in specific states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT). Drivers operating in these states must meet specific LCV Qualification and Certification Minimum Standards. The Hazardous Materials endorsement must be obtained within 120 days of offer acceptance.
