This position serves as the primary leader for nursing services during evening, night, and weekend shifts. The role is critical for maintaining operational continuity and patient safety when standard daytime staffing is reduced. You will direct and supervise nursing activities, ensuring that the department's objectives are met through effective coordination and staff management.
As the Night Shift Director, you will manage the full spectrum of nursing operations, from preparing work schedules and assigning personnel to evaluating performance and recommending personnel actions. Your presence ensures that established departmental policies, quality assurance programs, and safety standards are strictly upheld. You will conduct comprehensive rounds across all units to monitor patient conditions and coordinate emergency services, including participating in and evaluating all code situations that arise during your shift.
Beyond clinical oversight, this role involves being a vital support system for patients, families, and staff during times of stress or crisis. You will assist attending physicians, ensure the accuracy of medical records, and maintain adequate supplies and equipment. A key part of your mission is fostering professional growth within the team by encouraging participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops.
Candidates for this per diem position will be evaluated based on their clinical expertise and management capabilities. The selection process focuses on verifying current licensure and certifications, as well as assessing communication and problem-solving skills essential for high-pressure environments.
