This position serves as a Registered Nurse within the MDC Bern Co Contract department, delivering direct nursing care to patients across the full lifespan—from neonates to geriatrics. The role operates within the nursing process, adapting to clinical specialties such as PCU, ICU, and ED, regardless of patient location. As a Per Diem II RN, you are expected to serve as a role model, fostering a positive work environment and upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety.
The position requires a commitment to the hospital's core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Specialty Practice. You will collaborate closely with the healthcare team to implement individualized care plans, manage discharge planning, and provide essential patient and family education. Your responsibilities extend to maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment, administering medications with precision, and responding to emergency situations with competence and composure.
This is a Per Diem (PRN) role with a Days shift schedule. The position includes a minimum work requirement of four shifts per schedule, which must include two weekend shifts and coverage for one summer and one winter holiday. The role does not qualify for out-of-area float pay.
Compensation is structured to reward availability and shift timing. In addition to the base rate, the role offers a $6.00/hr Safety Incentive Pay. Shift differentials are applied as follows: 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days. Final compensation is determined by factors including experience, education, and organizational needs.
A key aspect of this role is the commitment to continuous professional development. You will participate in orientation and, upon successful completion of preceptor training, assume responsibilities for precepting and evaluating new personnel. Growth is encouraged through participation in educational programs, current literature reviews, in-services, meetings, and workshops.
Patient safety is a proactive priority. You are expected to identify and report environmental risks, medical errors, and near misses in a timely manner. Furthermore, you will encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting any treatment concerns that do not seem right.
