The Ambulatory Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing by incorporating assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the practice of nursing. This role provides healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing. You will serve patients aged 0–150, focusing on skin care issues such as skin cancer and acne, as well as newly diagnosed skin conditions.
In this position, you will act as a preceptor to support the development of other staff and healthcare students. You will assist with in-office procedures, including skin biopsies and the administration of local anesthetics, while providing pre-procedural education and post-care support. The role also involves obtaining prior authorizations for dermatology medications, coordinating with specialty pharmacies, and administering ID, SubQ, and IM medications. Additionally, you will perform telephone triage for acute and chronic patient needs and provide health and wellness education regarding treatments such as Accutane and biologic medications.
