The Pharmacy Prior Authorization Revenue Cycle Representative plays a vital role in supporting patients by securing insurance coverage for outpatient pharmacy medications. This position serves as a critical bridge between patients, providers, and payers, ensuring timely access to essential medications through benefits investigations, prior authorization support, and the identification of financial assistance options such as copay assistance and grant programs.
You will work closely with the broader health system staff to navigate complex billing practices and resolve claim denials. The role demands a high level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage patient revenue, monitor reimbursement activities, and maintain compliance with accrediting agencies and payer regulations. Success in this role involves providing a high-quality customer service experience while troubleshooting billing discrepancies and collaborating with clinical pharmacy specialists on appeals.
This position offers a hybrid work model, combining remote and in-person duties within Iowa. Eligibility for the remote component requires a minimum of six months in the role, successful completion of all training, and a performance review meeting or exceeding expectations. A formal work arrangement form must be completed prior to the start of remote work. All work arrangements are reviewed annually and must comply with the organization's remote work program, related policies, and employee travel policy.

Experience working in a complex hospital system. Experience working in a collaborative team environment. Pharmacy experience. Knowledge of healthcare billing, experience working with insurance and/or federal and state assistance programs. Experience working with multiple technology platforms (i.e. Epic, GE). Knowledge and understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
