People who choose to join the Y in Central Maryland do so because the organization reflects their values and represents a conscious decision about how they wish to live their lives. The happiest and most fulfilled associates are those motivated to help others and eager to be part of something larger than themselves. We are a charitable, mission-driven organization working for individual and community well-being for all, striving for a better us.
As a Y Head Start Resource Aide, you will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide classroom or individualized instruction, supporting the goals and objectives of the children in your care. You will serve as a vital resource for children with special needs or individualized plans and assist teachers in managing classroom schedules, routines, and transitions. Your primary responsibility is ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of the children in the program.
You will contribute to creating an environment that fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child. By working with our youngest participants who are economically disadvantaged, you will help them prepare for success in school and life, directly contributing to the Y's mission and the broader community we serve.
All Y associates agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth, which sets clear expectations to ensure a safe and respectful environment for young people. This policy emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. It strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment. Associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with all legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.
If you have an interest in the well-being and education of young children, along with enthusiasm, patience, good humor, and a good spirit, we invite you to join our team. We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth, including flexible schedules, competitive pay, generous paid time off, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and a generous employer contribution to the Y retirement fund. Our commitment to fostering a positive work environment means you will have access to training and development programs that align with our mission to empower individuals and strengthen communities.
