KGW is looking for a creative, driven, and curious news reporter who can shoot and edit their own stories. Known in our newsroom as a "multi-skilled journalist" (MSJ), this role is a key part of our newsroom's coverage on both broadcast and digital platforms.
You will tackle complicated stories, hold the powerful accountable, and get excited at the prospect of creating great journalism. The ideal candidate will pitch smart stories and tell them in a way that is both creative and engaging. Most stories will be same-day turns, while other times you'll be given more time to execute your vision. You can expect to work solo many days, although there are ample opportunities to work with a photographer, especially on breaking news.
We are looking for someone who is excited about the future of local news. You should embrace the digital future of our industry and be able to show examples of strong work on digital, streaming, and social media platforms.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position represented by SAG-AFTRA. The position may include weekend shifts.
