About the Role
WDRB is seeking a motivated, hands-on team player for a unique dual-role position that combines studio production and field photography. This is a rare opportunity to gain experience both behind the scenes in live television and out in the field covering news. You will split your time between running studio and control room operations during newscasts and working as a photographer capturing stories in the community.
If you are interested in building a career in broadcast—whether in production, directing, or photojournalism—this role provides a strong foundation across multiple disciplines. It is designed to help you grow into roles such as Technical Director, Director, or Photographer.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleOperate studio cameras during live newscasts
- check_circleFloor direct and support the execution of daily broadcasts
- check_circleMonitor and adjust audio levels during newscasts
- check_circleAssist with graphics and other production elements
- check_circleLearn technical directing using Ross OverDrive automation
- check_circleWork closely with producers to prepare and execute newscasts
- check_circleShoot video for news stories including VO/SOTs
- check_circleAssist reporters and newsroom staff in gathering visual content
- check_circleEdit video using non-linear editing software
Requirements
- verifiedHigh school diploma required
- verifiedCollege coursework or degree in a related field preferred
- verifiedSome experience with video shooting and editing preferred
- verifiedFamiliarity with digital video/audio tools
- verifiedBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office and file-based workflows
