About the Mission

The Florida Department of Health is dedicated to protecting, promoting, and improving the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts. Our vision is to be the healthiest state in the nation. We operate on a foundation of Innovation, Collaboration, Accountability, Responsiveness, and Excellence, striving to manage resources wisely and achieve quality outcomes through continuous improvement.

About the Role

As a Regulatory Specialist III Team Lead within the Bureau of Health Care Practitioner Regulation and the Board of Medicine, you will serve as a critical operational anchor for our regulatory activities. This role requires independent judgment and initiative to ensure the Board functions smoothly and effectively.

In this position, you will coordinate the development and finalization of agendas for Board and Committee meetings, managing the complex logistics of scheduling panels and notifying all relevant parties, including Prosecutive Services and Board Counsel. You will act as the Board's 'Travel Champion' and purchasing subject matter expert, streamlining processes for board member travel and office procurement while training new staff on these systems.

Your day-to-day impact involves reviewing licensee materials to ensure strict adherence to mandatory notification timeframes and preparing legal notices for the Florida Administrative Weekly. You will also manage the preparation of meeting minutes, finalize fact sheets for Attorney General orders, and maintain the yearly calendar of Board and Committee deadlines. As a back-up administrator for conference calls, you will ensure the security and privacy of sensitive discussions.

Where You Will Work

This is a fully on-site position based in the Southwood area of Tallahassee, located in the Capital Circle Office Complex at 4042 Bald Cypress Way. Employees are required to work from the Tallahassee office five days per week with no regular telework or remote options.

Hiring Process & Application Instructions

To apply, you must submit an electronic application with responses to qualifying questions that are verifiable by documentation. This position requires a security background check and drug screening; successful completion of a drug test is a condition of employment for this safety-sensitive role. You will be required to provide your Social Security Number to conduct the background check and complete the Form I-9 via the E-Verify system.

Candidates claiming Veterans' Preference must attach supporting documentation, such as a DD Form 214, with their submission. If you are a retiree of the Florida Retirement System, please consult the FRS regarding how re-employment may affect your current benefits.

Equal Opportunity & Culture

The State of Florida is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Affirmative Action Employer that does not tolerate discrimination or violence in the workplace. We are committed to serving members of the United States Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. Through the Department's VALOR program, we expedite licensing for military veterans and waive initial licensing fees for those applying for health care professional licenses within 60 months of an honorable discharge.

We support a drug-free workplace and require all employees to be able to learn and communicate effectively in English. Candidates requiring a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act must notify the agency hiring authority or the People First Service Center in advance to allow sufficient time for accommodation.
