The Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech is a vital engine of the university's mission, "Ut Prosim" (That I May Serve). As a comprehensive land-grant institution, Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge through a hands-on, transdisciplinary approach, conducting over $650 million in research annually. The Division supports this global research footprint and diverse student body across multiple campuses, including Blacksburg, Roanoke, and the greater Washington, D.C. area, ensuring operational excellence for scholars and staff alike.
This Administrative Assistant role serves as a cornerstone of the Division's operational efficiency, providing vital support to the Vice President for Information Technology, the CIO, and other designated leaders. Reporting to the Executive Assistant, you will act as a key partner in managing the high-level logistics that keep the division running smoothly. Your work ensures that leadership can focus on strategic initiatives while you handle the intricate details of schedules, communications, and documentation.
In this dynamic environment, you will manage complex calendars, coordinate meetings, and serve as a backup for the Executive Assistant to guarantee seamless support. Beyond administrative coordination, you will play a direct role in the division's daily operations by handling procurement, processing travel preapprovals and reimbursements, and maintaining organized office records. You will also support IT projects and prepare documents, acting as a professional ambassador for the division in all interactions. Success in this role requires a detail-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting where priorities may shift rapidly.
The successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal conviction check. Please note that sponsorship is not available for this position.
