The Avera Behavioral Health Adult C Unit is a 26-bed facility designed to provide a structured, therapeutic environment for adults. Our multidisciplinary team is built on compassion with a shared goal of "Moving Health Forward." We are dedicated to helping patients understand their diagnoses, develop Crisis Response Plans, utilize healthy coping skills, and achieve their personal goals.

We value autonomous professional nursing practice and offer an active, challenging care environment that requires critical thinking. With a flexible scheduling program and a 1 RN to 7-8 patient ratio, our team of over 60 coworkers strives to create high-quality patient care in an energizing setting.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse at the Avera Behavioral Health Center in Sioux Falls, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care to adults dealing with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and suicidal behavior. Your role involves developing nursing diagnoses, establishing care objectives, and defining interventions to provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends.

You will be responsible for reviewing physician prescriptions, coordinating with the healthcare team, and teaching patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care skills. The position requires constant evaluation of patient care, adherence to therapeutic standards, and maintaining a safe, secure environment by following infection-control policies and legal regulations.

This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy patient-focused care and are motivated to change lives. Nurses with 3+ years of experience will work every third weekend and every other holiday, while those with less than 3 years of experience will work every other weekend and every other holiday. The position is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $15,000 and Avera's Student Loan Repayment Program, which provides an extra $167 monthly payment toward your principal balance (up to $10,000).
