Norman Regional Hospital's ICU is a 32-bed unit dedicated to caring for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions. Our team collaborates closely with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award-winning advanced stroke care. We maintain a fast-paced environment to meet the needs of patients in the most acute phases of cardiac disease, managing conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, and induced hypothermia.
Common cardiac procedures and diagnoses seen in our unit include post-open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. Daily care involves managing various life-support systems, including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications.
As an ICU Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-level care to patients facing life-threatening conditions. This position requires more than clinical expertise; it demands a deep commitment to respect, empathy, and strong communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
You will be responsible for systematically assessing and reassessing patient health needs, analyzing data to determine nursing diagnoses, and implementing evidence-based interventions to achieve care goals. Your critical thinking will be essential in evaluating patient outcomes and recognizing problems to reach sound conclusions. Additionally, you will evaluate discharge needs and coordinate care plans utilizing available resources.
We offer comprehensive and inclusive training designed to support your growth. New graduate RNs participate in a 12-week orientation program paired with a designated preceptor. New graduates are also required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program to ensure a smooth transition into the ICU environment.
To apply, please ensure you hold a current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; if you do not currently hold this, you will complete the necessary training or retraining during orientation prior to providing patient care.
Norman Regional Hospital is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
