About the Team
R5 is a specialized unit dedicated to Oncology and End of Life care. We work closely with our Palliative care team, whose office is located directly on R5. Our scope of care ranges from symptom management and radiation to IV and oral chemotherapy, medication side effects, and Oncological Emergencies.
We are committed to your professional growth and safety. When starting on R5, you will not be required to hang IV chemo for the first six months to one year. Once you become comfortable with the R5 population, we will provide specialized training in chemo administration. Our team culture is distinct from other hospitals, ensuring nurses are truly happy and feel valued. We offer structured preceptorships, continuing education, and a commitment to great patient ratios. Through shared governance, nurses truly have a voice here, and we have made significant investments in safe patient handling and mobility equipment.
