Operating under the auspices of the Department of Public Health and Mental Health, the hospital provides comprehensive, high-quality treatment and care to adults with chronic medical and mental illnesses. The facility offers a full range of services, including 24/7 nursing, psychiatric and psychological services, dialysis, respiratory care, and various therapies, all dedicated to supporting patients on their journey to recovery.

The Department of Mental Health is committed to assuring access to services that enable individuals of all ages to live, work, and participate in their communities. The department establishes standards for effective, culturally competent care, promotes self-determination, protects human rights, and supports mental health training and research.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a Charge Nurse on the 3rd shift (11:15 PM – 7:15 AM). In this role, you will work with resilient patients navigating their path to recovery, providing a safe and therapeutic environment grounded in the principles of Collaboration, Assessment, Recovery, and Environment (CARE).

As a Charge Nurse, you will supervise staff by assigning tasks based on individual competencies, evaluating performance, and providing instruction to ensure the maintenance of professional nursing standards. You will facilitate the implementation of treatment plans by conferring with interdisciplinary team members to meet patient goals, while also managing the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients to ensure continuity of care. Your day will involve performing nursing assessments, developing interventions, and providing psychosocial support through individual counseling and group work. You will also act as a mentor to other nursing staff, overseeing the orientation process and participating in the progressive disciplinary process as required.

This is a full-time, 40-hour position. The schedule includes every other weekend, with varied days off during the week (Tue/Sat or Sun/Thu). Please note that mandatory overtime may be required, and the base salary does not include shift differential.

Hiring Process

First consideration will be given to applicants who apply within the first 14 days of the posting. The pre-hire process includes a criminal background check, as required by the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, and verification of education, licensure, and certifications in accordance with Human Resources Division guidelines. Selected candidates must acknowledge and attest to their COVID-19 and Influenza vaccination status in compliance with state regulations.

If you require a reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process, please contact EOHHS Candidate ADA Requests. For general questions regarding this requisition, contact Employment and Staffing Customer Service at 1-800-510-4122, option 4.
