The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individual patient care on a nursing unit. This role involves providing supervision of non-RN personnel on the assigned unit and may require assuming the charge role to delegate and supervise unit activities. The position may also involve working on other nursing units according to the distribution of staff and patients.
This position is specifically focused on the care of neuro patients. The nurse must demonstrate skill and knowledge in neuro assessment, airway management, caring for tracheostomy patients, assisting physicians during special neuro procedures, and utilizing the 'TIA' teaching program. Responsibilities include performing pharyngeal, endotracheal, and tracheostomy suctioning, as well as caring for patients in halo braces and on ventilators.
