About the Role
The Registered Nurse serves as a vital member of the Neurology team, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual patient care on the nursing unit. This role involves providing supervision to non-RN personnel and, when assuming the charge role, delegating and supervising unit activities. The position requires flexibility to work on other nursing units based on staff and patient distribution to maintain a high level of service.
As a specialized nurse, you will function as a preceptor to new staff and demonstrate advanced competency in the care of neuro patients. Your day-to-day responsibilities include managing complex airway needs, caring for tracheostomy patients, assisting physicians during special neuro procedures, and utilizing equipment such as halo braces and ventilators. You will also play a key role in the 'TIA' teaching program, ensuring patients and families receive necessary education throughout their continuum of care.
Hiring Process
Candidates must possess a valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License and BLS certification. One year of Neonatal ICU RN experience is required. Applicants should be graduates of an accredited school of nursing, with a BSN preferred, and proficient in using computer software for electronic patient records and internet literature searches.
