The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise individual patient care on a nursing unit. This role involves providing supervision to non-RN personnel and, when assuming the charge role, delegating and supervising unit activities. The position may require working on other nursing units based on the distribution of staff and patients.
In this specific capacity, the nurse demonstrates specialized competency in the care of neuro patients. This includes performing neuro assessments, managing airways, caring for tracheostomy patients, and assisting physicians during special neuro procedures. The role also encompasses caring for patients in halo braces and those on ventilators, ensuring high-level service and smooth departmental operations.
Candidates must possess a valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License and BLS certification. One year of Neonatal ICU RN experience is required. Applicants should be graduates of an accredited school of nursing, with a BSN preferred, and proficient in using computer software for electronic patient records and internet literature searches.
