The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse is an integral part of a multidisciplinary team providing care to patients during their journey through the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. This role involves providing age-specific care to patients ranging from infants to geriatric patients across outpatient, inpatient hospital, and emergency settings.
In this position, you will independently screen patients for various cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and peripheral vascular diagnostic or interventional procedures. You will provide pre, intra, and post-procedure assessment and education, collaborating with referring and procedural physicians to ensure all protocol and educational needs are met. You will function as a patient advocate and act as a liaison between the referring physician, patient, family, and procedural physician to ensure a smooth transition throughout the entire Cardiac Cath Lab journey.
The role requires providing moderate sedation and administering medications per protocols, ACLS guidelines, and physician orders. You will monitor for and respond to changes in the level of consciousness, ECG, respiratory status, and hemodynamics. Additionally, you will recover patients in the post-procedure room until discharge criteria are met, admit post-interventional patients to appropriate receiving nursing units, and coordinate post-procedure assessments and care.
