Corrections professionals foster a humane and secure environment while ensuring public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities.
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards. You will deliver general nursing care to inmates within the institution hospital or clinic, with opportunities to work in specialized areas such as psychiatric care, the operating room, orthopedics, and geriatrics.
Your day will involve developing comprehensive nursing assessments for each patient, encompassing planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. You will be responsible for identifying high-risk symptoms and behaviors, including suicidal or homicidal risks, as well as potential for verbal or physical abuse. Additionally, you will conduct nutritional screenings and refer patients to dietitians when necessary.
While you will monitor, evaluate, and revise care plans as needed, you will also assess and document discharge planning requirements. A key aspect of this position involves delegating and coordinating care based on your assessments.
