Regional Float RNs are an integral part of a market-based nursing resource team dedicated to ensuring safe, continuous, and high-quality patient care across a variety of settings. This role is designed to provide flexibility and support by assigning nurses to varying units during their shifts, ensuring that patient care needs are met efficiently within the assigned facility. To succeed in this position, you must possess the necessary skills, competencies, and qualifications to work across at least three different facilities within a defined market.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve floating between coastal facilities to provide essential support to medical/surgical, step-down, and telemetry units. You will be responsible for implementing treatment plans and delivering safe, effective patient care tailored to the specific needs of each patient, including modifying care according to age-specific requirements. Success in this role requires strong interpersonal relationship skills, effective communication, critical thinking, and the ability to resolve conflicts while maintaining professional customer relations.
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to ongoing competency, including the ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Specific certifications are required upon hire or within three months, such as Cardiac Dysrhythmia certification and NIH Stroke Scale certification. Additional specialty-specific training, such as Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) for Emergency Services, Behavioral Health, and Med Surg, or fetal monitoring and breastfeeding courses for Labor and Delivery and Women's Services, is also necessary.
