National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is a certified DBE/WBE firm and the most trusted name in the railroad industry for providing qualified field safety staff and safety training. Operating across the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico, NRSS supports major railroads, smaller lines, transit systems, and state transportation projects with a proven safety record.
As a Railroad Flagger, you will be the frontline guardian of worker safety on active train tracks. Your primary mission is to control train movements and enforce federal safety rules to protect crews, contractors, and the public. This role is critical for major railroads, transit systems, and contractors who rely on NRSS to manage complex field operations.
You will coordinate daily activities at job sites, acting as the vital communication link between dispatchers, train crews, and on-site teams. Your day involves leading safety briefings, ensuring all personnel meet training requirements, and rigorously enforcing railroad, state, and federal regulations. Whether you are spotting rule violations or completing detailed daily reports, your attention to detail ensures that no job is so urgent that it cannot be done safely.
This position is highly mobile, requiring you to travel 50% to 85% of the time, often for extended periods. You will work in diverse field environments, from dusty and noisy construction zones to extreme weather conditions, requiring physical stamina and the ability to navigate uneven ground.
Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass pre-employment and recurrent background checks, as well as drug and alcohol testing. All new hires are required to complete mandatory classroom training before beginning field duties.
Safety is the core value of NRSS. We prioritize the protection of workers, customers, and communities above all else. Every employee is expected to uphold this standard, ensuring that safety protocols are never compromised.
National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
