About the Role
As a Railroad Flagger, you will be the frontline guardian of worker safety on active train tracks. This role is critical for controlling train movements and ensuring strict adherence to federal safety rules while supporting maintenance and construction projects. You will serve as a key liaison between dispatchers, train crews, contractors, and site supervisors, coordinating activities to maintain a secure work environment.
The Work Environment
This is a demanding field position requiring adaptability to diverse conditions. You will work outdoors in dusty, noisy environments, often facing extreme weather ranging from intense heat to freezing cold. The role involves significant physical activity, including standing for long periods, walking on uneven ground, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Travel is a major component of the job, with an average of 50% to 85% travel expected, often requiring extended periods away from home.
Hiring Process
Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass pre-employment and recurrent background checks, as well as drug and alcohol testing. All new hires are required to complete mandatory classroom training before beginning field duties.
