National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is a certified DBE/WBE firm and the most trusted name in the railroad industry for providing qualified field safety staff and safety training. We serve major railroads, smaller rail lines, transit systems, state transportation projects, and contractors across the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico. Our mission is to ensure the protection of workers, customers, and communities by maintaining leadership in railroad safety.
As a Railroad Flagger, you will be the critical link between field operations and train movements, ensuring the safety of workers on active tracks. This role is essential for controlling train movements and enforcing federal safety rules across a diverse portfolio of clients. You will coordinate activities at job sites, lead safety briefings, and serve as the primary point of contact for dispatchers, train crews, and contractors. The position requires a high degree of organization and the ability to build strong client relationships while navigating complex field environments.
This is a field-based role that demands adaptability to extreme conditions. You will work outdoors in dusty and noisy environments, standing for long periods and walking on uneven ground. The job requires the ability to handle extreme weather, from intense heat to freezing cold, and the physical capacity to lift up to 50 pounds. Travel is a significant component of this position, with an average of 50% to 85% travel expected, often involving long periods away from home.
Safety is the core value of NRSS. We operate under the principle that no job is so urgent that it cannot be done safely. All employees are expected to prioritize the protection of workers and communities above all else, strictly adhering to railroad, state, and federal regulations.
Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass pre-employment and recurrent background checks, as well as drug and alcohol testing. Successful applicants will also be required to complete mandatory classroom training before beginning their duties.
National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background.
