About the Role
As a Railroad Flagger, you will play a critical role in keeping workers safe on active train tracks. You will control train movements and enforce federal safety rules to support a diverse range of clients, from Class 1 railroads to smaller regional lines and state DOT projects. This position is essential for coordinating on-track activities, ensuring that all contractors and crew members adhere to strict safety protocols.
The Work Environment
This is a field-based role that requires significant travel, often 50% to 85% of the time, with assignments potentially lasting for months at a time. You will work in diverse conditions, including extreme weather, dusty and noisy environments, and uneven terrain. The role demands physical stamina to stand for long periods, walk on rough ground, and lift up to 50 pounds, as well as sharp vision for near, far, color, and peripheral tasks.
Hiring Process
Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass pre-employment and recurrent background checks, as well as drug and alcohol testing. All new hires are required to complete mandatory classroom training before beginning field duties.

Requirements

- verifiedMinimum 2 years of experience with Class 1 Railroad, Regional Short Line, Transit System, State DOT Rail Division, Railroad Supplier, Railroad Contractor, and/or Railroad Consultant
- verifiedSkilled with basic computer tools including Citrix, email, phone, and texting apps
- verifiedComfortable using Android tablets and smartphones
- verifiedKnowledge of railroad engineering, design, construction, and safety
- verifiedMust communicate clearly in English
