The Property Maintenance Technician I serves as a vital link in ensuring that all properties managed, owned, and leased by Fairbanks Resource Agency (FRA) are maintained to the highest standards. This role is designed to keep buildings and grounds in excellent condition while providing exceptional customer service to residents. The position requires a versatile professional capable of handling a wide array of duties, from basic plumbing and electrical repairs to groundskeeping and housekeeping, all coordinated through the facilities work order system.
As a Technician I, you will respond to a variety of service calls for general repair work, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks. Your day involves completing work orders, maintaining accurate documentation for billing, and performing routine maintenance on roofing, siding, and gutters. A significant part of your responsibility involves preparing buildings for REAC and licensing inspections in compliance with HUD and state specifications. You will refurbish vacant apartments, clear sewer lines, and ensure all tools and equipment remain in safe working condition. The role demands flexibility, including being on-call 24 hours a day during rotation periods to address emergency or non-emergency calls, and maintaining a professional, courteous manner with residents, vendors, and colleagues.
Candidates must meet specific agency criteria, including holding a valid Alaska Driver's License and certifications in Adult CPR and First Aid. The selection process will verify your ability to meet insurance requirements for operating agency vehicles and your compliance with immunization standards, including an annual PPD test and Hepatitis B immunization or waiver.
