About the Role

The Property Maintenance Technician I serves as a vital link in ensuring that all properties managed, owned, and leased by Fairbanks Resource Agency (FRA) are maintained to the highest standards. This role is designed to keep buildings and grounds in excellent condition while providing exceptional customer service to residents. The position requires a versatile professional capable of handling a wide array of duties, from basic plumbing and electrical repairs to groundskeeping and housekeeping, all coordinated through the facilities work order system.

Day in the Life

As a Technician I, you will respond to a variety of service calls for general repair work, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical tasks. Your day involves completing work orders, maintaining accurate documentation for billing, and performing routine maintenance on roofing, siding, and gutters. You will also handle custodial and grounds work, such as snow removal and landscaping, to ensure safety and a welcoming appearance for the public.

A significant part of your responsibility involves preparing buildings for REAC and licensing inspections in compliance with HUD and state specifications. You will refurbish vacant apartments, clear sewer lines, and ensure all tools and equipment remain in safe working condition. The role demands flexibility, including being on-call 24 hours a day during rotation periods to address emergency or non-emergency calls, and maintaining a professional, courteous manner with residents, vendors, and colleagues.

Hiring Process

Candidates must meet specific agency criteria, including holding a valid Alaska Driver's License and certifications in Adult CPR and First Aid. The selection process will verify your ability to meet insurance requirements for operating agency vehicles and your compliance with immunization standards, including an annual PPD test and Hepatitis B immunization or waiver.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Fairbanks Resource Agency is an equal opportunity employer. We consider qualified individuals for employment without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, color, religion, national origin, age, marital status, veteran status, medical condition, or disability. We abide by the requirements of 41 CFR 60-741.5(a), which prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals on the basis of disability and requires affirmative action to employ and advance qualified individuals with disabilities.

Safety and Health

All employees are expected to adhere to strict safety standards that comply with company, local, city, state, and federal guidelines. This includes maintaining training compliance and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and residents. Additionally, all employees are expected to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or obtain an approved accommodation through personnel.
