You will play a pivotal role in the Salvation Army's ministry advancement by collaborating with Officers to ensure Red Shield Youth Centers provide an engaging, enriching, and empowering environment. Our goal is to foster a space where youth develop Christ-like character and are prepared to become tomorrow's leaders. This position is dedicated to positively impacting the lives of young people through activities that measurably move them toward positive outcomes.
As the Program Services leader, you will plan, develop, and supervise center-wide program operations, volunteers, and staff. You are the driving force behind the Youth Development Strategy, ensuring that every activity is safe, high-quality, and aligned with organizational goals. Your day will involve a dynamic mix of curriculum planning, staff mentorship, and direct engagement with the community.
You will work closely with the Site Director to build partnerships with families, schools, and community organizations, ensuring the center remains a vibrant hub for youth. This role requires a leader who can navigate challenging environments with empathy and resilience, often working in low-income neighborhoods where the need for safe, structured activities is critical. You will be expected to transport youth and staff to approved events and maintain a safe, well-ventilated, and well-lit environment for all participants.
This position is performed in a youth center environment and within the community. You will work in facilities similar to recreational centers, where the noise level can range from moderate to loud. The role involves regular interaction with challenging youth and family members, including managing emotional outbursts and communicating with upset parents or community partners. Physical demands include constant motion, lifting moderately heavy equipment, and driving approved vehicles to transport participants safely.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience planning and supervising youth activities, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid state driver's license and the ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification are required. The role operates during regular business hours as well as afternoons, evenings, nights, and weekends as needed to provide oversight and address urgent matters.
