Pratt & Whitney is working to once again transform the future of flight by designing, building, and servicing engines unlike any the world has ever seen. Because transformation begins from within, we are seeking curious people to drive it. We welcome those ready to explore a place where talent takes flight beyond the borders of a title or country. Join a tight-knit team that takes our mission personally, channeling your drive to make a difference into shaping an organization and an industry evolving fast to the future.
We have an immediate need for a Production/Maintenance Machinist on the 3rd Shift (typically 11:30 PM – 6:30 AM). Training on 1st or 2nd shift may be required. In this role, you will set up and operate machine tools to produce precision turbine engine parts. Working under the direction of a leader or supervisor, you will follow verbal and written instructions, operation sheets, and drawings to operate manual or numerically controlled machines such as milling, boring, grinding, turning, broaching, and shaping equipment.
Your day will involve performing bench, assembly, and surface finishing operations, including deburring, blending, trimming, fitting, drilling, riveting, and bonding. You will utilize various hand and power tools, as well as equipment for cleaning and part preparation like tumbling, grit blasting, shot peening, buffing, and polishing. Additionally, you will apply anti-gall and polymite coatings using dry bake ovens and operate part-marking equipment. You will use fixed or variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and part features, while utilizing computer-based systems like OpCert to retrieve and store records. Routine servicing of assigned areas and equipment will also be part of your responsibilities to ensure proper operation.
This role is designated as Onsite, meaning employees will work primarily at the assigned site in Middletown, CT, as production and maintenance workers are essential to engine development. Candidates are responsible for their own commuting to and from the site. As part of our commitment to a secure hiring process, selected candidates may be asked to attend specific steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of the role's work designation.
