Amazon's Global Engineering Services (GES) North America Design & Construction team is a diverse, upbeat, and creative group of designers, engineers, and managers. As a Preconstruction Manager, you will serve as Amazon's owner's representative during the preconstruction phase of facility delivery. This role is designed to independently manage difficult, cross-functional industrial projects ranging from site selection and validation through design management, permitting, and contract execution. You will be the key support resource for the construction team, ensuring a clean, well-defined handoff and remaining involved throughout the project lifecycle.
Projects include fulfillment centers, sortation centers, delivery stations, and auxiliary buildings, covering everything from targeted renovations to large-scale new facility builds. You will partner with internal teams (Real Estate, Design Engineering, Finance, Construction) and external stakeholders (architects, engineers, developers, landlords, and permitting agencies) to establish scope, budget, and schedule. Your work combines construction engineering, planning, project management, real estate development, multi-disciplinary design management, and contract management.

Experience operating across at least two disciplines within the construction industry (e.g., General Contracting, Owner's Representation, Commercial Development, Engineering & Design, or Owner's Project Management); Advanced degree or certification in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration; Demonstrated capability in planning, design review, implementation, and project management/control of new structures and enhancement of existing facilities; Experience managing multi-disciplinary design incorporating industrial automation, robotics, or similar; Demonstrated success communicating project requirements to diverse audiences (e.g., senior management, peers, fire marshals, utility providers, public officials, vendors); Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM); Construction Managers Association of America (CMAA) or Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification or equivalent.
