About the Role

The Policy and Accreditation Assistant serves as a vital support to the Director of Policy and Accreditation within the Adult Probation Department of the Circuit Court of Cook County. This role is designed to ensure the department maintains rigorous standards through the development, organization, and dissemination of comprehensive policy frameworks and accreditation materials. The position acts as a central hub for procedural clarity, bridging the gap between high-level policy directives and day-to-day operational understanding among staff.

In this capacity, you will play a key role in shaping the department's operational manuals and procedural guides. Your work will directly influence how policies are interpreted and implemented across the organization. From managing the inventory of department forms to coordinating the Policy & Procedure Committee, the role requires a blend of administrative precision and strategic communication. You will assist in gathering feedback through staff surveys and assessments to identify barriers to policy implementation and ensure that evidence-based practices in community corrections are effectively integrated into departmental workflows.

Hiring Process & Application Instructions

Qualified candidates must submit a formal application via the Circuit Court of Cook County Career Page by the close of business on Friday, June 5, 2026. In addition to the standard application, applicants are required to submit a current resume and a letter of interest addressed to Chief Probation Officer Megan Volker. This letter should specifically address your relevant work experience and how your qualifications align with the needs of this position.

Please note that all offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check and drug screening. As a Drug Free Workplace, the use of medical or recreational marijuana is prohibited and will disqualify a candidate from employment.

Equal Opportunity & Culture

The Office of the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County is an Equal Opportunity Employer. It is the policy of the Office to provide equal opportunity in employment to all employees and applicants, regardless of race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, or sexual orientation. The department is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect.
