The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for a Park Ranger Mounted Unit Intern. This unpaid internship is designed to support students or recent graduates seeking practical experience in the field. Candidates may be eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university.
This role offers a unique opportunity to learn the many aspects of the equine, environmental, and enforcement aspects of a mounted park patrol unit. You will gain insight into the "behind the scenes" operations required to prepare a mounted park ranger for duties in a public park setting, including patrols, programs, special events, and ceremonial functions. You will also partner with other agencies under mutual aid agreements.
Your day-to-day activities will involve assisting Rangers and Stable Aides with essential stable duties, including mucking, bedding, grooming, clipping, sheath cleaning, picking paddocks, and tack cleaning. You will also assist with park special events, programs, and stable tours, while performing administrative tasks such as data entry.
This is an unpaid internship with dates from June 1, 2026, to August 19, 2026. The position is located in person at 705 Hillside Street, Milton, MA.
