As a member of the Port Houston Police Department, you will serve as a vital guardian of our facilities, ensuring the safety and security of our properties, tenants, and visitors. This role is designed to maintain a secure environment through proactive patrols, rigorous inspections, and effective traffic management across our wharfs, warehouses, and administration facilities.
Your day will involve a dynamic mix of duties, from patrolling properties using a Port Houston Police Unit to inspecting perimeter fencing and unmanned gates for signs of tampering or unauthorized entry. You will be responsible for physically checking buildings to ensure they are secured when empty and conducting frequent inspections of offices, security cages, and waterfront areas to detect fire hazards, pilferage, or vandalism.
Communication and coordination are central to this position. You will monitor radio and telephone equipment professionally, escort visitors and oversize vehicles to their destinations, and assist in the berthing of vessels. Additionally, you will investigate incidents and accidents, prepare timely reports, and enforce regulations including 33 CFR 105 and applicable Texas laws. As an essential employee, you may be required to work holidays, evenings, and nights, remaining on call 24/7 to respond to emergencies.
