Principal Engineer, Mechanical

About the Role

The Principal Mechanical Engineer serves as the technical authority for fixed mechanical equipment reliability at our Hackberry, LA facility. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity of complex assets including drums, air coolers, heat exchangers, tanks, towers, loading arms, flares, and extensive piping systems. You will provide strategic direction and leadership for all mechanical reliability activities, ensuring operational safety and production goals are met through proactive engineering solutions.

In this position, you will lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to correct reliability issues before they impact production. You will act as the Fixed Mechanical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for project engineering teams, overseeing the development of specifications, stress analysis, and fitness-for-service assessments in accordance with API and ASME standards. The role requires managing third-party consultants, overseeing budget execution, and driving key performance indicators (KPIs) for the Integrity Work Request (IWR) and Integrity Operating Windows (IOW) programs.

Location & Requirements

This position is based at the Hackberry plant in Hackberry, Louisiana. To ensure operational readiness and compliance, candidates must reside within a one-hour drive of the site and possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). The role involves a dynamic environment where safety is paramount; all activities are conducted with a "Safety Above All" mindset, utilizing Stop Work Authority and participating in regular safety audits.
