Officers also have opportunities for ancillary duties in SWAT, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Crisis Negotiation, Accident Reconstruction, and various instructor roles.

Patrol Officers work 12-hour shifts, rotating between days and nights on a quarterly basis. While the department is based in Lemon Creek, officers respond to calls throughout the entire City and Borough of Juneau.
This is a continuous recruitment for Police Officer positions. The role is designed for individuals who possess the commitment to help serve the community and the ability to promote and enforce laws. Officers are responsible for a wide range of duties, from conducting patrols on foot, bicycle, or in a police car to investigating accidents, emergencies, and public disturbances.
The position requires the discretion to take enforcement actions, the ability to apprehend and detain suspects, and the skill to testify in civil and criminal cases. Officers will also engage in special duty assignments, including public speaking, search and rescue operations, and public educational programs.
