The Tucson Indian Center (TIC) is dedicated to serving the Tucson Urban American Indian community through a comprehensive approach to health and well-being. This role is designed to embody TIC's core values, guiding principles, and strategic goals, specifically focusing on the Pima CARES Opioid Prevention grant. The position serves as a vital bridge between the community and essential health resources, ensuring that outreach, education, and care linkage are culturally responsive and effective.
As a key member of the Wellness Department, you will conduct program outreach by coordinating with community health and social service agencies to support the Pima CARES initiative. Your primary focus will be designing and delivering health education workshops that promote healthy lifestyles, harm reduction, and substance abuse prevention for youth, adults, and elders.
In this capacity, you will work directly with individual clients to facilitate their access to TIC and other vital services, managing everything from intake and eligibility determination to case plan development and monitoring. You will also develop culturally appropriate educational materials and maintain strong working relationships with community partners to ensure seamless service coordination. Beyond direct client interaction, you will support the operations of the Community Room and contribute to the broader staff team's success through professional development and mentoring.
Candidates must meet specific certification and clearance requirements to ensure the safety and compliance of our community. Successful applicants will be required to obtain HIPAA certification within two weeks of hire, followed by certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid within three months. Additionally, candidates must pass an Arizona DPS Fingerprint Clearance (Class I & II) and submit to periodic or random drug testing. A valid Arizona Driver's License and the ability to meet insurance carrier requirements are also mandatory due to the nature of community outreach and travel within the Tucson Urban area.
We are committed to fostering an environment that is respectful, knowledgeable, and deeply familiar with American Indian cultures and traditions. We value individuals who can function proactively with limited supervision while maintaining high standards of client confidentiality and positive professional relationships. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that ranges from climate-controlled office settings to community spaces, requiring adaptability to various environmental conditions while serving our community with dignity and care.
