As a Phlebotomist - Vascular Access Tech, you will obtain quality blood samples using a variety of phlebotomy methods (capillary, venous, assisted line, and arterial collections) from patients of all age groups. You will work at the Mayo Clinic Hospital, alternating between the Rochester Methodist Campus (RMC) and St. Mary's Campus (SMC) across general patient care areas, pediatrics, the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, and Operating Rooms.
Your day will involve strict adherence to regulatory requirements and collection procedures, ensuring accurate patient identification, quality specimen labeling, handling, and transportation. You will also perform accurate specimen testing using Point of Care (POC) equipment. This role requires utilizing good customer relations and communication skills to interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals, ensuring high customer satisfaction while maintaining patient confidentiality.
You will work in a fast-paced environment, often pushing a cart and walking distances. The role demands the ability to work independently as well as in a team, demonstrating a positive and professional demeanor. You will also assist with training students and new employees.
