As an Outpatient Phlebotomist, you will be the vital link between patients and the diagnostic process, processing blood draws with precision and care. This role is designed for individuals who thrive in a patient-focused environment, providing a high level of customer satisfaction while ensuring the accuracy of laboratory tests that guide physician diagnoses and treatments.
Your day will involve interacting professionally with laboratory management, physicians, hospital staff, and patients to provide optimal care. You will conduct phlebotomy procedures for a diverse range of patients, including adults, adolescents, and infants, across outpatient draw stations, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and healthcare clinics. The role requires positive identification of patients, accurate labeling of specimens using unique identifiers, and the processing of special procedures such as therapeutic phlebotomy and glucose tolerance testing. You will also utilize computer and handheld systems to enter results, process physician orders, and manage specimens sent to reference labs. Additionally, you may be required to drive lab courier vehicles to off-site locations to support our community-wide services.
