As an Outpatient Phlebotomist, you will be the vital link between patients and diagnostic care, processing blood draws with a focus on patient safety, comfort, and positive communication. This role exists to ensure that laboratory tests provide physicians with the accurate information needed for diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases.
In this position, you will interact professionally with laboratory management, physicians, hospital staff, and patients to provide optimal care. Your day will involve conducting phlebotomy at outpatient draw stations, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and healthcare clinics for patients of all ages, from infants to adults. You will be responsible for positively identifying patients, labeling specimens with two unique identifiers, and processing physician orders using our laboratory systems. Whether collecting specimens for special procedures like therapeutic phlebotomy or driving lab courier vehicles to off-site locations, you will exercise all safety precautions and adhere to OSHA and TOSHA regulations. You will also play a key role in training new employees and students as assigned, fostering a collaborative environment of teamwork and continuous improvement.
