As an Outpatient Phlebotomist, you will be the vital link between patients and the diagnostic process, processing blood draws with a focus on patient care and positive communication. You will interact professionally with laboratory management, physicians, and hospital staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Your work provides the critical information physicians need for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases.
This role involves a dynamic day-to-day environment where you will perform phlebotomy at outpatient draw stations, nursing homes, assisted living centers, and healthcare clinics. You will be responsible for the full spectrum of specimen handling, from positively identifying patients and labeling specimens using unique identifiers to processing orders for special procedures like therapeutic phlebotomy and glucose tolerance testing. You will also drive lab courier vehicles to off-site locations as needed, ensuring timely delivery of specimens to reference labs and maintaining the integrity of the collection process.
