As a Pharmacist at Walgreens, you will serve as a vital healthcare partner, bridging the gap between transactional pharmacy services and personalized patient care. Your mission is to ensure the safe, effective, and compliant dispensing of medications while actively promoting preventive healthcare through services like immunizations and drug therapy reviews. You will play a key role in shifting the pharmacy experience from a simple pickup point to an interpersonal healthcare destination.
In this position, you will work closely with the Pharmacy Manager to optimize workflow, manage inventory, and enhance the overall customer experience. You will be responsible for counseling patients on medication usage, side effects, and interactions, ensuring they understand their treatment plans. Beyond clinical duties, you will foster strong relationships with the local medical community and engage in community outreach to promote the pharmacy's growth and health initiatives.
Your day begins and ends with the pharmacy, managing opening and closing procedures while overseeing shift changes. You will engage directly with customers, greeting them warmly and proactively identifying their needs to deliver a distinctive service experience. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to clinical tasks, including compounding, verifying prescriptions, and conducting drug therapy reviews in strict adherence to state and federal regulations.
You will also act as a liaison between patients, medical providers, and insurance companies, clarifying prescriptions, resolving payment issues, and suggesting alternative medications when necessary. By leveraging pharmacy systems and automation, you will support the team in maintaining efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, you will contribute to the team's success by assisting with staff training, coaching, and performance monitoring, helping to cultivate a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
To join our team, candidates must be willing to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution prior to the start date. You must also be willing to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 90 days of hire.
