About the Role

As a Pharmacist at Walgreens, you will serve as a vital healthcare partner, guiding customers through the complexities of medication management and preventive care. This role is designed to elevate the pharmacy experience from a purely transactional service to a deeply interpersonal one, where you actively engage with patients to ensure their health needs are met with compassion and expertise.

You will be responsible for the full spectrum of pharmacy operations, including the compounding, verification, and dispensation of prescribed medications in strict adherence to regulatory guidelines and company policies. Beyond clinical duties, you will play a key role in optimizing pharmacy financials, inventory management, and workflow efficiency while supporting the Pharmacy Manager in fostering a culture of excellence.

A Day in the Life

Your day begins by ensuring the pharmacy is ready for service, managing opening and closing procedures, and coordinating shift activities. You will engage directly with patients, offering consultations on medication usage, side effects, and drug interactions, while proactively identifying opportunities for preventive healthcare services such as immunizations and diabetes awareness programs.

You will act as a bridge between the pharmacy and the broader medical community, collaborating with physicians and nurses to clarify prescriptions and suggest alternative treatments when necessary. By leveraging technology and maintaining current knowledge of pharmacy systems, you will ensure accurate insurance processing and seamless patient care. Additionally, you will mentor team members, share customer service best practices, and contribute to community outreach efforts that promote the pharmacy's growth and health mission.

Hiring Process & Requirements

To join our team, candidates must be willing to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution prior to starting the position. Successful applicants must also be prepared to secure pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy within the state of employment within 90 days of hire, as well as obtain or become a Certified Immunizer within the same timeframe.
