Pharmacy Customer Service Associate

About the Role

This position serves as a vital bridge between Walgreens and the community, delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience while supporting the pharmacy team. You will be responsible for registering sales, providing courteous checkout service, and assisting the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy. Your role ensures that patients and customers receive efficient, accurate, and friendly service across all store departments, from the pharmacy counter to the photo area and web pick-up stations.

Day in the Life

Your day begins by engaging with customers and patients, greeting them warmly, and offering proactive assistance with products and services. You will model customer service best practices, utilizing interpersonal habits like eye contact and courtesy to resolve issues and answer questions. A significant portion of your time involves operating the cash register, processing transactions, and managing returns or exchanges with precision.

In the pharmacy, you will utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow. This includes filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying accuracy, and checking for possible interactions. You will also handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention and process manual claims for third-party prescription services.

Beyond the pharmacy, you will maintain store operations by keeping counters and shelves clean, merchandising products, and constructing displays. You will manage inventory activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments, while ensuring compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products. Additionally, you may assist with exterior and interior maintenance, provide customer service in the photo area, and manage web pick-up responsibilities to ensure orders are filled and delivered promptly.

Hiring Process

Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours. The role requires fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). While prior retail experience and PTCB certification are preferred, we are committed to training and developing our team members to succeed in this role.
