This full-time position focuses on cardiac cases within our Perioperative department. As a Perioperative Nurse Coordinator, you will serve as an experienced Operating Room Nurse functioning at the Expert level according to Benner's model of clinical practice. You will act as a clinical resource and assume leadership responsibilities with high-level contributions in direct patient interaction.
You will serve as the primary liaison between departments, vendors, surgeons, anesthesia, and OR staff. Your role involves assisting management with the coordination of care, process improvement, quality initiatives, and the overall growth of the perioperative program. You will help standardize and improve the efficiency of care for patients in the perioperative environment while ensuring appropriate resource allocation for scheduled surgeries, including staffing, skills sets, supplies, and equipment.
In addition to leadership duties, you will function as a charge nurse, lead unit activities, and participate in shared governance. You will act as a role model and mentor to other OR staff, serving as a catalyst for change to enhance patient care and outcomes. You will also assist with providing breaks and lunches for staff and may perform patient care as an operating room nurse circulator or in a scrub role as needed.
This position works Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. Employees are required to wear scrubs and business professional attire as approved by the department. While this is a standard schedule, employees may be required to be on-call during emergencies, such as disasters or severe weather events. Travel within the Houston Metropolitan area may be required.
