The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt is a vibrant hub of clinical excellence and innovation. Ranked as a top children's hospital in the Southeast by U.S. News and World Report, our department has been designated a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.
We operate within a 358-bed tertiary referral center serving a catchment area that extends to southern Kentucky. Our facility is home to Centers of Excellence for various pediatric disorders, including a Level IV-designated NICU, an active maternal-fetal medicine program, and robust subspecialty surgical programs in cardiac, orthopedics, trauma, urology, neurosurgery, ENT, and ophthalmology.
Our team culture is defined by collegiality, collaboration, and creativity. The section currently comprises 18 fellowship-trained day-time faculty and two ACGME fellows. We are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including two ultrafast dual-energy CT scanners, four MRI units (1.5T and 3T), flat-panel digital fluoroscopy, scintigraphy, and Siemens ultrasound systems, with plans to acquire a photon-counting scanner in the upcoming fiscal year.
For those interested in research, we offer collaborative opportunities with world-renowned imaging scientists at the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Sciences, a 41,000-square-foot facility located adjacent to the Radiology Department.
