This position serves as a vital support pillar within the Clinical Nursing Support department, delivering direct, non-invasive patient care across in-patient and out-patient environments. The role is designed to bridge the gap between clinical staff and patient needs, ensuring safety and well-being for individuals across the entire lifespan, from neonates to geriatric patients.
You will be an integral part of a rotating shift team, working in dynamic settings that include the ICU, Emergency Department, and general wards. Your day-to-day involves a blend of hands-on patient assistance and vigilant observation. From taking vital signs and assisting with activities of daily living to managing therapeutic plans for patients at extreme risk, you will be the eyes and hands of the nursing team. The role also includes maintaining equipment, transporting patients, and supporting the orientation of new staff members.
We foster a culture of proactive patient safety and continuous professional growth. Team members are encouraged to question current policies and processes to identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring that environmental risks are mitigated and patient care remains top priority. Participation in educational programs, in-services, and workshops is expected to enhance your professional development and keep you current with best practices.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent and hold a valid CNA or Cert EMTB (specifically for ICU & ED roles), or have completed one semester of an accredited nursing program. CPR certification (Healthcare/BLS) is required within 30 days of hire. Bilingual skills in Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo are highly valued.
Interested applicants should apply through the university's career portal. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates. Please note that tuberculosis testing is completed upon hire, and all staff must adhere to strict safety protocols regarding chemical and biohazardous materials.
