You will join the Pediatric Emergency Department, a vital component of the Clinical Nursing Support team dedicated to providing compassionate care to patients across the lifespan, from neonates to geriatric populations. Our mission is to ensure the safety and well-being of every patient through direct, non-invasive care and rigorous adherence to hospital policies. The team fosters a culture of continuous professional growth, encouraging staff to actively participate in their own development through educational programs, current literature, and in-service workshops.
This position serves as the frontline support for patient care, bridging the gap between clinical interventions and daily patient needs. You will be responsible for observing patients to ensure their safety, taking and recording vital signs, and assisting with activities of daily living such as meals, hygiene, and ambulation. The role requires a proactive approach to patient safety, where you will identify environmental risks, report potential errors, and encourage patients to ask questions about their treatment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining therapeutic plans for patients at extreme risk, performing routine tube care, collecting non-sterile specimens, and operating equipment like the Hoyer lift. You will also assist in the orientation of new staff members and ensure accurate documentation within the Electronic Medical Record. This role is unique in its exposure to diverse age groups, offering the opportunity to support Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients within a rotating shift environment.
Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED equivalent, along with a CNA or Cert EMTB (ICU & ED) certification, or have completed one semester of an accredited nursing program. CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo is highly valued. A background check and Tuberculosis testing will be completed upon hire.
Interested applicants should apply through the official university portal. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates.
We are an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, language skills, or experience. Our environment prioritizes patient safety and encourages all team members to speak up regarding treatment concerns or safety issues.
