This position serves as a vital support within the General Medicine department (5-W), providing direct, non-invasive patient care in both in-patient and out-patient settings. The role is designed to assist patients across the entire lifespan, from neonates to geriatric populations, ensuring their safety, well-being, and comfort throughout their hospital stay.
As a member of the Clinical Nursing Support team, you will be the eyes and ears of the nursing staff, observing patients closely and reporting any changes in condition. Your day involves a blend of hands-on care—such as assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining hygiene, and helping with prescribed exercise regimens—and logistical support, including transporting patients and managing equipment. You will also play a key role in patient safety by identifying environmental risks and encouraging patients to actively participate in their own care.
This is a 0.90 Full-Time position working the Night shift. To support our dedicated night team, the role includes specific shift differentials: 17% for weekday nights, 26% for weekend nights, and 15% for weekend days. A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates.
Candidates must hold a High School diploma or GED equivalent and possess a CNA or Cert EMTB (ICU & ED) credential, or have completed one semester of an accredited nursing program. Bilingual skills in Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo are highly valued and considered non-essential but beneficial. All employees must complete CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
We are committed to a culture of safety and professional growth. You will be expected to follow strict safety protocols regarding biohazardous materials and chemical exposure, while also proactively seeking opportunities to improve patient safety processes. The University of New Mexico values diversity and encourages professional development through educational programs, in-services, and workshops.
